Bennie Drake
In this interview with former art instructor, Mr. Bennie Drake, we learn a lot more about the park street mural from a helper's point of view. Mr. Drake explains his role in helping Angela Rivers with the mural, which was to help put up and take down the scaffolding everyday until the artist was finished with the mural in the fall of 1978. He explains the conditions they had to work under and how he was there to support Angela along with a couple of other fellow artists. He also tells of how he got his start in art and his feelings about the lack of interest in arts by today's generation.
